Help Recover the Precious Frog

Amphibians are highly threatened and are declining worldwide at an unprecedented rate. At least 2,000 species are  estimated to be in danger of extinction and another 2,200 species (25% of all 7,900 known species) are data deficient or not evaluated by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Amphibians are sadly often neglected, and Isabelle aims to raise their public profile. All frogs are precious, but one in particular, the Oregon spotted Frog, is actually named the Precious Frog (Rana pretiosa). This frog also happens to be Canada’s most endangered amphibian, with less than 500 breeding females left in the country, all located in the Fraser Valley, in British Columbia. The proximity of the remaining frogs to agriculture creates conflicts with local communities.

Isabelle has helped the Oregon Spotted Frog Recovery Team to change negative perceptions and engage people to help the species recover through photography, films, and various tools.
